Bloggers Pillow Party

Stitched in Color is hosting a Pillow Party where each month you can enter a pillow you have made to win fabric! And not just any fabric, this month Whipstitch fabrics is giving away FIVE yards of Sherbert Pips, YES PLEASE!!!

So heres my entry. 

I'd had this idea in the back of my mind for a while dreaming of VW's.  The first car i ever bought was a beetle and one day i hope to have another.  For the meantime I will have to settle for the stitchy version.

I had visions of a little blue ( bahama blue ) to be precise Bug, tootling over rolling hills with a stack of vintage suitcases piled high.  I actually had a hat box on top of my drawing but decided last minute to sew a birdcage. I think it looks cute!

Its all raw edge applique and a bit of free motion embroidery with stipple quilting on the front and simple quilting and button closure on the back.

I havent actually kept this pillow even though it looks great on my couch but gave it to my gorgeous niece for her 18th birthday....i know what you're thinking....who gives someone a PILLOW for their 18th???  But she absolutely loves it and takes pride of place on her bed.  Cant ask for more than that!

Awards and features ...

Ive been computer-less for the past two days since small children savaged my laptop with a cup of water.  Ive taken it in to be salvaged, im hoping the photos can be saved off it as i never back any of them up, Ooops!  Im fortunate to have a loaned laptop while mines in for surgery.

In the meantime ive been the recipient of not one but two "Leibster Blog" awards which i think means lovely blog in German.  One from the thrifty Queen herself, Loo at Jumbles and Pompoms and the other from newbie blogger and renovator extraordinaire Bungalow Bliss. Thanks You Guys!  xxx.

I know im supposed to pass this award on and i will but its hard choosing because there are so many great and inspiring blogs out there. 

Ive also been featured on Kirsty's blog as part of her 'Blogging your Way'  e-course and i think it will become a regular feature ( not me of course , but featured bloggers!)  Its a well written and amusing post if you want to check it out.  I did have to question her photo choices because i think she picked THE ugliest photo of me to put on there ( and on purpose too just quietly),  but hey isnt that what sisters are for?!  (i know... im so fortunate!LOL. )

Well i would normally have some pretty pictures to insert in here but for now or until i get my computer back its just boring type.

Hellooooo!

Goodness , its been a while since i last posted , i think i misplaced my mojo for a bit .  How are you? Things are pretty quiet around here which is a blessing considering all of the terrible events happening about the world. Its still raining though and im starting to wish for the dry season.  Im over the mould and mud - i got bogged in my driveway this morning taking the kids to school!

Ive got a little bit of show and tell for you, i finished the VW cushion and gave it to my gorgeous niece for her 18th birthday.....I know... what sort of person gives their niece a cushion for their 18th???? Well, i can tell you that she loves it and thinks i am the best aunty!

I have made progress on my Single Girl Quilt. Its been fun joining in on this quiltalong even though i started way late and ive enjoyed checking out everyones version of it . So far i have completed two full blocks. Im making a queen size so need 16 blocks. Im through the worst of it cutting the templates and piecing the rings just need to sew up another 14 blocks. I really like it so far. This one is for my bed.

Ive also signed up for the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap.  I got my secret partner and since i dont have any set ideas for this ive just been playing around.

 I made a dresden , as well as some mini kaleidoscope blocks and some wonky crosses.  I havent decided what i will use maybe something completely different!

Gawd, youd think a woman could wash her dishes!

Im wearing my gorgeous new wrap dress that the lovely Wendy from The Textured Leaf made as my prize in the recent Flood Relief Auctions.  Thanks Wendy i really, REALLY love it! It is so cool and comfy! ( and so beautifully made, i might add! )...

Im sewing up some little nighties for my girl with some lovely voiles.  Im waiting for her to come home from school so i can work out where to sew the shoulder straps...

and Im contemplating cutting these lovelies for my next project.
