Yep, its that time! The Bloggers Quilt festival is on again! I love this time of year so many stunning quilts to inspire and gorgeous blogs to discover! A big Thankyou to Amy for hosting such a wonderful event !
This is my entry for the festival. I made this using a kaleido-ruler and i cant believe how easy it was to put together. Alternating light and dark value fabrics trick the eye and give it a kaleidoscope effect. I pulled all of my "boy" appropriate fabric for this with my four year old son in mind and added touches of pink and purple to keep it interesting - he doesnt seem to mind!
I started this quilt in the middle of last year and put it away in a cupboard for quite a while as i wasnt really feeling the love for it. At the start of the new year i got my second wind and made some more blocks and finished it off.
I used a brand new vintage sheet for the back of the quilt which suits it quite well i think and machine quilted it in an all over stipple. The binding is a lovely brown cocoa stripe from Kokka.
This was the first time i had experimented with colour value and the effects are quite spectacular in this design, such a fun quilt to make - i highly recommend it!
